Malvern College has a well-established history of supporting the development of men and women who go on to be leaders in their fields of expertise, from Nobel Laureates, to politicians, television presenters and sportsmen, to name a few. As Malvern College Hong Kong looks forward to welcoming our first Sixth Form students in August 2021, we are committed to continuing to nurture the leaders of tomorrow.
Malvern College Hong Kong seeks to attract ambitious and committed students who will thrive in the Sixth Form. Through the Malvern ethos and academic and wider curriculum, we seek to build competence and confidence in leading others, and to develop the mindset and approaches to be able to go onto be compassionate, courageous and confident leaders committed to making a difference.
The MCHK Leadership scholarship will give pupils access to:
- An innovative and internationally diverse learning environment, founded in the traditions and heritage of a British boarding school set in the Hong Kong context;

- MCHK’s Leadership development programme creates opportunities for all Sixth Form students to explore and discover their own leadership style and develop essential leadership skills;
- Up to 100% tuition fee remission and capital levy waiver for Sixth Form;

Key aspects of MCHK’s Leadership development programme:
- The process will begin with an online assessment establishing potential in a range of aptitudes together with a written task and a review of the last two years of school reports to establish academic ability to meet the demands of the Diploma programme;
- The Leadership scholarship application forms and mentor recommendations will be reviewed for all pupils who meet the academic criteria;
- Students who meet the academic requirements and have been able to demonstrate leadership potential through their written application will be invited to the Leadership Scholarship selection day;
- The Leadership Scholarship selection day will bring together all short listed leadership scholarship applicants and will include a range of activities including individual presentations, panel interviews and a group project.

Our expectations
It is an honour to be a scholar at Malvern and all scholarship holders are expected to take pride in their award and step up to the expectations which come with the honour. As a leadership scholar you will be expected to:
- Act as a role model to peers and younger pupils, making the eleven Malvern Qualities visible and tangible;
- Make the most of the breadth of opportunities available at MCHK and play an active role in all aspects of school life, stepping up to leadership where appropriate;
- Act as an ambassador for Malvern College Hong Kong in the wider community; Take the lead in a school initiative(s) related to your area of particular interest for the benefit of the school’s development and pupil body;
- Be active in promoting academic excellence through your commitment to your studies and academic enrichment activities;
- Demonstrate commitment to service to others within and beyond the school community.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Academic excellence as well as wider interests;
- Passion for leading and having an impact on others;
- Affinity with the eleven Malvern Qualities (include Malvern Qualities wheel);
- Strong communication and presentation skills;
- The ability to lead both as part of the crowd and whilst standing out from the crowd;
- Understanding of the concept of service to others.
Selection process culminating in a Leadership Scholarship selection day:
- Academic excellence as well as wider interests;

Timeline:
- Friday, 9th October 2020 – Application Deadline;
- Saturday, 24th October 2020 – Online assessment and written test;
- Saturday, 14th November 2020 – Admissions Interview
- Saturday, 28th November 2020 – Leadership Scholarship Selection Day
- Friday, 18th December 2020 – Result to be released.
Note:
Entry Scholarship applicants must be aged 16 or above. Applicants are required to submit a regular application to attend Malvern College Hong Kong before their scholarship application is processed. If entry to the Leadership Scholarship is granted, the application fee for attending Malvern College Hong Kong will be waived.
