MCHK Campus Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony

MCHK celebrated the Foundation Stone Laying of its campus building today, marking the commencement of construction of the 25,000 square-metre state-of-the-art facility to be completed in mid-2018. The ceremony was officiated by Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Government of the HKSAR, Ms Jacqueline So, Chief Executive of MCI (Asia Pacific), Mr Antony Clark, Headmaster of Malvern College UK, and Mr Allan Walker, Director of International Schools, Malvern College UK, along with MCHK’s Co-founding directors and Headmasters from Malvern College Chengdu, Cairo and Qingao schools. Senior leaders from universities, international schools, corporates, and the community witnessed the ceremony and shared their excitement of MCHK setting foot in the Science Park neighbourhood.

In her speech, Mrs Lam reiterated the importance of international schools as they provide support to the families of the expatriate community. She congratulated the school and wished MCHK all the best for a smooth construction and timely opening in September 2018. Mr Clark stated again the close ties between Malvern College UK, MCHK and the other Malvern College schools, will provide a unique experience for the school’s students.

Just before the ceremony, a Press Conference was held at the Science Park. Ms Jacqueline So and Mr Iyad Matuk, MCHK’s Senior Director for Academics, gave a detailed overview of the school with members of the press, and shared the latest development of MCHK and its proposed curriculum.

Later that evening, the British Consul-General to Hong Kong, Ms Caroline Wilson hosted a cocktail reception at her official residence at The Opus Hong Kong, to celebrate the commencement of the construction for the MCHK campus with our corporate and community benefactors. MCHK is grateful for the support received from the HKSAR government, the British Consulate General, many individuals and organizations from the education and business sectors, and also from the community and our Old Malvernians in Hong Kong and beyond.
